About

Backed by over a decade of national experience and evidence-based research, Reading2Connect® Library Training is designed for library employees and volunteers. This course equips participants with the skills to support self-directed reading for individuals experiencing cognitive changes. Grounded in Montessori principles, the training prepares participants to: -- Facilitate older adult, independent reading groups -- Enrich events, holidays, and themed activities with related books. -- Incorporate humor, trivia, music, skits, and spirituality into book activities -- Facilitate virtual reading-discussion groups for patrons who are homebound -- Design volunteer, student, and intergenerational programs based on age/dementia friendly reading -- Expand your patron base and strengthen your community relationships With a one-time program purchase, libraries receive lifetime access to the training—no subscription required. Anyone affiliated with the library (e.g., new employees, volunteers, assistants) can access the course using the original login credentials, allowing the program to thrive for years to come. Our ability-appropriate books feature highly readable text and rich visuals, enabling older adults to read, learn, recall, express themselves, and meaningfully connect—just as they always have. Content spans a wide range—from popular topics like pets, travel, and sports to culturally specific themes such as civil rights, the Korean War, Judaism, and Gay Rights—honoring diverse identities and life stories. Trainees receive a Reading2Connect® Certificate upon completion.
